Florence ♥

This is some very exciting news. I absolutely love Florence & the Machine and Gucci has recently named front woman, Florence Welch, the muse behind their Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 collection.  Here is the full article I found on Harper's Bazaar Australia:

Florence & The Machine 1
Florence Welch has been named Gucci’s new muse. Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, has revealed that the flame-haired singer was the inspiration behind her A/W 11-12 collection.

“As I was imagining this collection I was thinking of a strong and somewhat mysterious muse. Florence is that kind of woman," she told Dazed Digital.

Giannini has reportedly been impressed with Welch since an encounter with the musician earlier this year. “I met her in Los Angeles at this year’s Grammys and was captivated by her presence. She has a powerful personality and an entrancing quality to her performances. She also has that confident and self-assured look that goes hand-in-hand with the Gucci woman,” Giannini explained.

The songstress’s influence in the Gucci A/W 11-12 collection is evident in the long, cascading gowns and a strong 1970s influence.

Resort 2012.

Chloë Sevigny has recently revealed her new collection for Opening Ceremony at St. Patrick's Youth Centre in New York. Collaborating with skate label Vision Street Wear for logo-printed pieces and sunglasses by Barton Perreira, she unveiled her Resort 2012 with a diverse mix of models sporting white cotton, lace, mini-dresses, black leather, cut outs and leopard print; a mash up of teenage femininity meets retro street-chic. I love all these pieces! Absolutely amazing.

Codie Young.

I came across this interview with Codie Young on Vogue Australia. She is an upcoming Australian model who has a very unique look, and a unique sense of style.

Like many teenagers, 18-year-old Codie Young loves catching up with friends, trawling through thrift stores and listening to defiant musicians like Pink. But unlike most girls her age, she has just emerged from her first fashion season in which she walked a staggering 40 shows. Impressively, the otherworldly beauty from the Sunshine Coast opened Marni in Milan and starred in everything from Lanvin to Chloe in Paris. But her real highlight was being given a coat by Marc Jacobs after the show in New York. “I looove that coat. It’s so different – so far no-one has a coat like it!”

Young’s unique way with clothes (“I suppose I have a hippie grunge look”) quickly saw the grown-up piece downplayed over a vintage sweatshirt, Acne jeans and her favourite pair of high-tops. It’s her preferred way to dress: easy, comfortable and with a fair dose of individuality. With a Vogue Australia cover and a shoot in Mexico, her launch into fashion’s stratosphere is well on track, but the lanky teen is staying firmly grounded, and charmingly acting her age. “I probably put [clothes] together a little better,” she says, “but at the end of the day, I’m still going to wear what I want!”

Gold Week Fundraiser.

If any of you out there have little ones, be prepared, as there are going to be some seriously stylish bubs around after the Marquise designer singlet fundraiser! I can't tell you how excited I am about this! It is so inspirational and delightful to see Australian fashion designers and celebrities alike who have joined with Westfield Bondi Junction to raise funds for the Sydney Children's Hospital. They have used a Marquise - premium Australian babywear - white singlet as the blank canvas for their designs and have each created a piece of art. Some designers include Miranda Kerr, Ginger and Smart, Peter Alexander, Sass & Bide, Zimmerman, Brett Lee, Camilla & Marc and Mimco... just to name a few! All designs are one-off, and available online. You can buy them here. All proceeds go towards supporting the Sydney Children's Hospital.
