Anja Rubik for Australian Vogue.

I love that when people imagine Australia, they imagine the beach. And when I say I'm from the Gold Coast, people assume I surf. I don't, but I love that people think I do.

I love that Anja Rubik is on the cover of Australian Vogue all bronzed and beachy, with sandy feet and fluro zinc marks all over her flawless body. Her hair is sun-bleached and salty, exactly what I miss from Australian Summers. You definitely take for granted what is right at your front door as I live only five minutes from the beach, yet I always make an excuse as why I can't go. And by the time I return to Australia, beach season will be over. Damn. I missed another Australian Summer.

However, I have certainly experienced some amazing places and I've been living in more snow than Australia will ever see. And I suppose a European Summer of 2010 was not all that bad...

  1. That is one damn long beach. I wonder where this was shot. Yeah I bet you would get that a lot because it's kind of a stereotype- you live down the coast so therefore you must love the beach and you must surf haha. I'm a city girl myself, but I do love going to the beach! I tried surfing but I was so unco. Love this editorial because it just screams Australia!

  3. Fab shoots. I love the beach. I love the beach. I love the beach.
And I love those zinc marks-reminds me of when I was a kid at nippers.
