Double Winter.

While the rest of the world is beginning to pack away their woolen coats, the southern hemisphere is beginning to dust theirs off. I have spent the Winter in Japan, following many fashion blogs and loving the Winter trends. And as I begin to think about packing up my life in Japan, I can fortunately cart all my wonderful Winter clothes back to Australia and re-live what has been a wonderful season.

So, to all my fellow Australians, here is a charming little interview with Samantha Harris, who talks about the up-coming season with Australian Vogue
Photobucket

You turn 21 this July - what’s the plan?
I am going back to the Gold Coast and celebrating with a party inviting all my family and friends.
2010 was a big year for you, wasn’t it?
Yes it was amazing, the best year I have ever had. I keep thinking how I am going to make 2011 bigger… fortunately with my new role with David Jones, it has started off really well.
Joining fellow ambassadors Miranda and Megan must be nice…
It is an honour. David Jones is not only home to so many of my favourite designers but it is a store I admire and have grown up with…  to work alongside both
Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale - both of whose careers I have respected and aspired to - is something that I am very excited and proud to be a part of.
How do you prep for a big show like DJs?
I increase my gym sessions per week, drink lots of water and always get plenty of sleep so my skin is glowing on the day.
What keeps you sane when you’re on the road?
Calling my mum and my boyfriend Luke. Mum is always a great leveler and I have great confidence in her advice.
Favourite place to be in the world and why?
I hate to say, but I love home so the Gold Coast is my favourite place. I feel most comfortable and relaxed with my family.
Is there a model do you look up to?
Miranda Kerr. She has an incredibly diverse career and my dream is to walk in the Victoria Secret show like her. She is also very professional and a really kind and generous person.
Highlight of your career so far?
Working for David Jones is definitely a highlight, it is like family. I also loved appearing on the cover of
Vogue Australia and in the Seafolly campaign.
Which designer do you most enjoy working with?
I can’t wait to work with
Alex Perry again, he has such a great sense of humour and his gowns are really beautiful.
Who will you be wearing this season?
Zimmermann - everything, I love Zimmermann. One Teaspoon, for their amazing chunky knits; Cohen et Sabine’s cool chambray pieces and White Suede for ultra femininity.
Key trends for winter?
Anything camel - the colour of the season. And a statement coat, whether it’s a trench, bell shaped, cape or belted, it’s fundamental. Leather trims and refined detail are key.
Any last insider tips for autumn winter?
Invest in some great denim from washed back tones to darker, dressier styles. I have my eye on
sass & bide and Ksubi. Experiment with new textures - lace is a huge trend this season and White Suede’s done some lovely, really feminine pieces in pale pink and nude tones. Have fun with accessories. I have my eye on a black felt hat that I wore in the campaign - it is going to be my must-have piece.

I am definitely looking forward to camel coats and felt hats!

  2. I ♥ CAMEL COATS AND FELT HATS!!!!
Samantha Harris is a delight. I'm so glade she is the Youth Ambassador for David Jones. Plus she gets to work with Miranda and Megan as well as Nicole! Such an achievement for a young indigenous girl. She should be very proud of her career so far... and I think there is still more to come.

    Love,
