I ♥ Alexa.

I am seriously contemplating a drastic hair change. I'm thinking bob. Extra blunt. Just below my chin. But I can't decide on full fringe, side fringe or no fringe. I have extremely fast growing hair so whatever I choose will be outgrown in about eight weeks.. This can be good and bad. Good if I don't like the style, but bad if I love it.

However, I was looking at hairstyles on Vogue Australia and came across this little article about my beloved Alexa Chung. Her style is so effortless. Everything about her is simply amazing. And I love her hair. Short but simple. George Northwood does a great job in explaining Alexa's signiature hairstyle... and how to get it!

Alexa Chung’s hair has caught the mood of the moment according to George Northwood, creative director of Daniel Hersheson salons and Alexa's hairdresser of seven years. And better news still - her famous shaggy cut is easy to achieve.

"Girls are looking for a change from that long, Sienna-Miller boho look of the last decade," says George. "Alexa's hair is a variation on a classic bob – it's not too done and not too messy. Alexa wears it so effortlessly and it really works for her look, although any girl can wear it - it's very accessible," he concludes.

Alexa's shaggy bob hairstyle has become ubiquitous among the cool crowd, since she reputedly had it cut to avoid the ultra-preened look of American TV presenters when she was working in the US for MTV.

George describes Alexa's current hairstyle, as seen on UK Vogue's June 2011 issue cover, as "a bit Nineties with the grown-out fringe and centre-parting. And there's some Victorian influences - she loves anything Victorian. There's a Seventies feeling too but it's not really Seventies. It's kind of like when you are a little girl and you get your first haircut."

His advice if you want to get the same look? "Get your hairdresser to do a classic bob but make sure they chop into it loads. Then use curling irons to tong random bits. It's just a simple cut that's very feminine and low-maintenance."

  9. She has really gorgeous hair.

I just got my hair cut really really short, and I love it...perfect for summer. Keep in mind, she can probably afford to get her hair styled and deep conditioned quite often!

  10. I'm all for a change but make sure that it suits your personal sense of style. I think I'm a little put-off by the use/mention of Alexa Chung because I have zero interest in the woman. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll be comfortable and that's what matters most.
